All right guys, today I'm going to speak about a controversial music scene. Music played by some guys who mostly have straight political views, special feelings about foreigners and very little hair, so called Skinheads. Their music is simular to Punkrock, just a little bit faster and purer. Some groups mix Punkrock with WWII-style hero songs, the result is some kind of Punkrock ballades. The lyrics are either drunk or racistic. But there are more and more groups who just have drunk texts and keep their racistic views for themselves.
The best known German skin-band is probably "Die Böhsen Onkelz". You can hardly tell their sound apart of common Punkrock. They have heavy-like guitars, and shouty voices. Their records are available in nearly every bigger record shop (see under Indepenents). And they already produced a lot of records. Another German band is called "Vortex". They've got simple guitars, but very fast and clean vocals. Nice pogo songs with lyrics about their way of life (no racists). Also good German bands are: "OHL", "Kahlkopf" or "Stoss- trupp".
But most of Oi!-bands come from England. The leading band was definetly a London band called "Screwdriver". They played melodic music, with lyrics about national pride and things like that. They now split up and their very good leadsinger and songwriter founded a new Psychobilly band called "The Klansmen": Rock'n'Roll music with racist lyrics. From England come a lot of compilation records (like "Oi! - Chartbuster" series etc.) With all kind of bands like "Sudden Impact", "Brutal Attack", "The Business", "Combat 84", "Doc Marten", "No Remorse", "The Crack", etc. There are also Oi!-bands from other countries, like "Verde Bianco Rosso" from Italy or "Debout!" from France. Just dont take the lyrics to seriously, and you'll have a lot of fun with this kind of music. Concerts are always great drinking orgys, just dont want to be in the foremost row (Stahlkappen!) and dont go there as a Punk!!
