What is ZINE?

ZINE is a digital magaZINE about the demoscene and related topics, such as real-time CGI, music, graphics and programming. The mag was originally born in 1989 on the Commodore Amiga. Issues 1 to 11 were released between 1989 and 1991, and ZINE enjoyed unrivalled popularity. After a long break, ZINE resurfaced on the PC in 2007 and has become the most popular mag of the scene ever since.

While ZINE has a strong focus on the demoscene, it also touches on topics such as games, digital art, design, music and programming. In-depth interviews and huge background reports are ZINE's speciality.

Editor-in-Chief Axel of the demoscene group Brainstorm has a long track-record of journalism. As a European correspondent he worked for the biggest media in interactive entertainment, such as Gamespot, 1up, IGN, Electronic Gaming Monthly, Official US PlayStation Magazine and Xbox Nation. In Europe he worked for some of the most respected games media in Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Sweden and the UK.

ZINE is created in association with the demoscene community BitFellas.org
