What do you do when you aren't sitting at your computer? You read books? Ok, then this article is made for you. Perhaps you read the same stuff I do, but for the people who don't know which paperback they will sacrifice next, this article is actually first aid! I mostly like thrillers and horror books. For horror stuff the best author is still: Stephen King. But there many other good ones like: John Saul, Dean R. Koontz or James Herbert. Here just a few titles to remember ... IT (Stephen King) most probably the best book I've ever read. The story is very difficult to explain (like almost everything by Stephen King) so I don't try to do it... The german translation is published under the name ES. Then follows another S.K. release: The Stand (german version: Das letzte Gefecht). Perhaps some people think this is the best book by S.K., but it's actually hard to decide between these two great books. To the story of The Stand: A deadly disease killed almost all people on earth. Only a very few resistant ones survived the catastrophe. In the USA the bad people have a leader called Randal Flagg (You can find this "person" in other S.K. books as well). He symbolises the bad on earth. These bad survivers prepare themselves for the big fight against the good people who have a very old, wise wife called Abigail as leader. This book is so incredibly great, you can't imagine!!! Some other books by Stephen King I can recommand: Tommyknockers, Night Shift (Nachtschicht), Mysery (SIE), Talisman, Menschenjagd (don't know the english name), Todesmarsch (don't know english name either...). Of course you mustn't forget the other authors, but S.K. is far ahead of them. But let's change the matter ... To the thrillers. There's a relatively new author who hasn't released more than three books till now. But these three books are very good. His name is Ridley Pearson. About his books: Ultimatum (don't know the english name) is about a big US shopping centre and its security staff. A terrorist tries to bomb the centre... Next book: Never look back (german: Clayton): This is one of the best spy thrillers available on the market! A CIA-agent has to catch a Bulgarian spy who travels with a dangerous B-weapon through north America. next one: Undercurrents (german: Crosskiller) is about a Police sergeant who has to catch a psychopathic killer in a big city. This novel shows how the police works - very interesting! I could also recommand the Techno thrillers by Tom Clancy, but I think no one of them is translated into german. They're also quite good. Microprose has already used some of his books as background stories for computer simulations: Red storm rises and The Hunt for Red Octobre.
