Hi punks! First, you can relax... I'm not going to write anything about the Finnish Scene on Amiga, which I think is rather clear to you after 4387 Finnish Scene Reports. The Point is... FILMS! Finland is very lame land in official release sector when the name of the game is TOUGH films (horror & action). The scene is very confusing: in theatres these movies are heavily cut and or they are not shown in cinemas at all. Some horror flicks come directly to video, and because of the wonderful finnish law about videos, they are even worse stuff to see. Here is some damage examples: Robocop 11 min cut, Bloodsport 14 min cut, Predator 4 min cut, The Evil Dead MASSIVE Amounts cut, Missing in Action 3 over 10 min cut , Maniac Cop 6 mins cut etc. Movies like Evil Dead 2, Hellraiser 2, The Night, Dawn and Day of the Dead Movies, Texas Chainsaw movies and all Friday movies (!) are totally forbidden. More confusing is that movies which are cencored in video come uncut from finnish TV! And of course there are such channels as FilmNet and Sky Movie with their own versions...
Finnish TV is a funny thing: every year the assholes promise some ultimate horror and XXX-rated porno but the result is some old swedish 'horror' and cencored 70's' Emmanuelle movies (barf!). And even this is too much for some people: last year the boss of the christian party of Finland sent a public letter to the president and complained about 'these horrific porno movies'. Suck your dick you abnormal shithead idiot! The law about these movies is in Finland stricter than in any other Western European country (But I've heard in Sweden there is coming real pain-in-the-ass law, which stops individuals buying forbidden films from abroad).
Well, these aren't a real problem for these who swap films and can take little worse picture quality than in cinemas and rentable tapes. Here are both new stuff hunters and rare film collectors, and police don't care about'em. The public magazines publish numerous advertisments where the guys swap VHS by mail. In Finland most people are collecting the weird films forbidden in Finland (Nekromantik!), but many handle also the new stuff. And the future is bright... Greets to all my video- and other contacts!
