Brainstorm interviewed Charlie (alas Charles Meyer) of NEUTRON DANCE.
Tell us the history of your group.
-Neutron Dance was founded a couple of years ago by Malone and a couple of friends of his from the college. In the beginning demo making was firts priority, but nowadays there are not many demos by NDC moving round, because some of us are making games, utilities, and some are just like to be lazy. but sometimes you can see something by us.
What is your function in the group?
-I'm a musician and part-time swapper. I also like drawing from time to time.
What do you think about your local Amiga scene?
-It has always been good. There are groups like Purebyte, X-Men, Complex, Deathstar, Accession, but Byterappers deserve our best honour!
What do you think about demos?
-Demos should aways be surprising,a demo like thousand others isn't worth releasing!
Your favourite hobby?
-My girlfriend.
Do you have a modem?
-Nope (The bills would drop me very soon!)
A few words about phreaking:
-In C64-times (old times, good times) I was often on line but nowadays I'm not so often home at night (see second question above), when the calls usually came in.
Compare the C64 scene to the Amiga scene:
-Both scenes are fascinating me very much.
Your favourite demo?
-Red Sector surprised us gladly with their megademo.
How many swappartners do you have?
-About 20 and raising.
What do you think about other scenes?
-It seems that nowadays there are more bad things going on than good ones. For example the police is very efficent in some countries. The competition in the scene raises the quality of demos.
Did you hear any rumours?
-Integrated Europe in 1992!
What is your opinion of old heros like BS1, TKT, SCA, etc?
-When there are always lamers, there will also always be heroes, too. Talking about heroes, "1001" comes first to my mind.
Your favourite newcomers?
-There are a lot of newcomers, some will get famous, some will fail. The basics of a good group are: a good coder, a good musician and gfx artists combined with a couple of swappers, whose primary task is spreading the new productions, P/R must be OK, too!
Your favourite coder?
-Yip of Purebyte.
