This is a story of a Unique member called "Mace". He's one of our mail traders. And this story began on a nice winter day in January '90... After a quite normal day spent in school we went to my place to check out the new stuff. Then we got wind of that some cops had been asking one of our swappers' home-address in the post-office. Then we got a bit nervous. The day was Monday. We started to cool down a bit our activities. Then, on Friday in the same week, Mace of Unique got a letter from Finnish Criminal Police. The Police wanted Mace to come to the Police station for hearing next week (on Friday). We stopped our activities almost totally.., no noe sent anything to our trade-partners. Everybody in Unique started to hide their pirated programs like mads... Then, Friday! Mace went to station... There were 2 cops asking questions from him. They wanted to know if we had spreaded any illegal stuff..., Mace said that we are only demo spreaders. The police didn't actually know anything about Amiga in whole..., they wanted to know what is a demo and things like that. They didn't understand why it is sensible to do demos and spread them worldwide. They wanted our coder's phonenumber, but they haven't called him yet, I think they are not going to call him anymore. They have enough work with rapes, robberies and other crimes. After that day we started to bring up the life again in Unique. I wrote this article for everybody who's in pirate-business, I must say that if you are a pirate, BE VERY CAREFUL with your activities. The police all around the world is co-operating with each other more and more every day. Mace got caught because of one of his German contacts had been caught and the German Police photocopied Mace's letter and sent it to Finnish Police. So from now on we must be more careful and of course all pirates must protect themselves better against the police. By the way, Mace is still swapping as the cops didn't charge him for anything.
