Hello ! As you know the AMIGA is now getting closer and closer to the MIDI world as many freaks are interested in the synthesizer world....Already good musicians like Walkman or Firefox are synthesizer freaks. So I will talk as often as I can about the MIDI world, cos Zine is an Avant Garde magaZine! Yesterday evening I was in a Korg demo held in Strasbourg, France. They presented all the Korg news. First, a demo of the MIDI-Guitar. Yes, it seems this system is now well working. It was really amazing, with a simple guitar, he played the piano, drums, panflute...the sound quality was really good! He could play 127 different sounds which were pre-recorded in the Korg EX-ZR3R (or something like that...). He also has a Korg multi effects generator. You could put 6 effects at the same time. There are 44 different effects available like Reverb, Delay and so on. When he combinated them, he obtained Incredible effect like Panoramic and so on.. I can't describe them here, you must hear them by yourself. Of course, he played the normal guitar (he could include many effects)...and Hard-rock distorded, satured guitar. Really wonderful !
But the more incredible is the Splitting or Velocity effect you can have on a simple(?) guitar (but is it still a guitar?!) For example, when you press softly on a cord, you have trumpets. and if you press harder on the same cord, you have a slapbass. You can have 8 different instruments simultean- ously on one cord! To conclude, he played a song with chorus.These chorus were sampled by the Korg Sampler and played while he was playing! This kind of MIDI-Guitar system is very impresionnating - But the price is in consequence! Next time, I'll talk you about the KORG M1R, M3R (Racks, of course!) and the new amazing KORG T1. Also I will talk about the DMS-1 Sampler.
