THE WEST-PHASER (HARDWARE TEST)
I won't dare to talk you about the software of this game, cos i think it is not the aim of ZINE to test games ! But, the game West-Phaser is given with a GUN. This kind of feature may increase the ludic aspect of this kind of game.Remember when you were playing cabal or other game like that... It was cool, but with a gun it would have been better... So LORICIEL decided to sell a gun called west-phaser and which are compatible with some games like CRAZY-SHOT, POW, CAPONE (re-edited) and a soon coming game from 16/32 DIFFUSION... Lets have a look to the gun: it is in plastic, looking like a 'colt', typical from western type.It is not very solid, but there is a 6months garantee on it ! Well, playing games like WEST-PHASER with this gun open a new dimension in arcade game, it is of course less boring and very funny... The shoting precision is correct but not perfect.Anyway, you can set it by yourself.
But how does it work?...well it is quite simple : You connect the gun to the serial port and when you shot, the AMIGA screen flashes (that's a bit annoying !) and this flash allow the gun to detect the position where you shot at the screen (follow me?).
So like on the consoles the amiga has now its own gun. Actionware has already made a gun but no society wanted to develop specific games for this gun, so they gave up and adapted their old games to the new loriciel's phaser. Now we have to wait and see if this phaser will have more success...but the phaser's price is quite expansive and we don't know right now which compagnies plan to release game for this game-hardware (except 16/32 and Loriciel itself).
Oh! i forgot: my phaser (yes i bought one...arghh..) is already out of order!! I hope they will repair it quickly...
