I'd like to introduce you to my favourite record. The band which made this great piece of straight , hard , brutal heavy metal is called CARNIVORE.One could call it a concept album , 'cause all songs tell us about the third world war and the world after it. The record starts with the song -WORLD WAR 3 AND 4-.As one can see by this title it deals with the 3rd world war and it's efftects on earth and humanity.A good start , with hammering drums and good guitar work that makes you want to hear more. The second song -PREDATOR- is absolutely great.Starting with a intro made out of helicopters and several other noises the sound gets fat and then Peter Steele (singer) shouts one of his AAAAAAAAARRRRRRs.A very powerful and quite fast song follows , that contains information about eating in the world after the war.For there are as good as none other things aviable humaninty has got into canibalism.Driving guitars and very hard drums make it possible that you "see" the mercyless predators are "breeding human beings as cattle".A dinner is described and Steeles cruel and hard voice blasts your ears. The name is : -CARNIVORE-s drums and guitars shows the bands ability in converting a text in music. After you survived this, there comes (in my opinion) the climax. -MALE SUPREMACY- thunders about a warrior power and lust.Certainly this song is very agressive and Steeles voice sounds like the risen god of war.But then in the middle of this sonic massacre ----the drums stop , the guitar only plays a quite melody and , you can't believe it : Peter Steele begins to sing ! He's not shouting and his warm and clear voice lets you know what's going on when "after the war I come home weak and sore I'm falling in your arms , we lie by the fire , you feel my desire, with me save and warm..." a real highlight. Then -ARMAGEDDON- crushes down on you.First sounding slow and heavy it suddenly gets faster while text is sung but only to return to the slow speed for a only instrument part. And again ....fast , shouting, "Armageddon" by the name you should know what the text is about.Very nice this changing of the tempi.
