Eurocharts Review

Yes, the Crusaders have done it again. January 1st, the Crusaders have released the second issue of Eurocharts. It lists the top ten crews, top ten demos, top ten sound etc.. The Crusaders collect votes from a few hundred people (last issue as they said almost 300 people) and then count the votes together. There have been some improvements made in this second issue, for example worst group isn't anylonger one of the topics which people may vote on. I think this is good so, because otherwise it would cause unnecessary wars.

Eurochart has once again some nice sound in the background, and some of the opening Gfx are improved. The Design and Gfx of the Main Menu do NOT come up to Amiga Standarts. On the other hand when you klick on a chart, you will see quiet a nice screen. All in all I would rate it like this: Sound is VERY GOOD, the Design is OK (as I said the Main Menu doesn't hit the Jackpot), the gfx are OK (the gfx of the Main Menu are really below average). The charts are to my opinion very fair.

We received an official statement by The Crusaders about their Eurocharts. Here it is in its entirety:

First of all we should explain exactly WHAT the Crusaders Eurochart is. Well, every second month we collect votes from about 200-300 Amiga users, count up the votes, and bring the results in the shape of a "demo-like" chart program. The program shows the results of best group, best demo, best music, best BBS etc. and we also brought the results for WORST group, WORST demo etc. THIS is what we should have left out!

As of now (xmas '89), only one issue has been made, and the votes for the second one is almost collected. After releasing the first issue, we have had a lot of complaints, nasty letters and generally not very happy people - those who ended up in the so-called "Lamer-lists". But we ask you all to PLEASE understand that we, The Crusaders did NOT decide who was lamest etc. ALL we did was count the votes and bring you the result. A lot of people did not seem to understand this - and they got mad at us because of the chart. We never meant to hurt anyone's feelings - we only wanted to make some excitement and fun. Ok, so we screwed up. Hmmmff.

Anyway we have learned our lesson and we take this opportunity to apologize to all groups/ persons who ended up in the worst group/ worst whatever lists. We should have known that it was not a good idea to bring out those kinds of results. The next issue of the "Official Crusaders Eurochart Top 10", and all the following, will NOT have any lamer-lists, worst demo, worst graphics etc. Only the "Top ten best" lists will be given. So here we are then: SORRY GUYS - for all the bad feelings. It was really not our fault but we should not have given the results as we did.
