Bruce Springsteen, The Man & His Music

Bruce (Fredrick) Springsteen was born, the 23rd of September 1949, in a small industrial town on the east coast of the USA; Freehold, New Jersey. His father was occasionally employed, when he was lucky enough to find a job. His mother worked in a office downtown. Bruce's first guitar he got from his mother when he was about ten years old, but his fingers were too small, so he didn't manage to hold the grips on the guitar. But when he was fifteen years old he saw Elvis Presley on TV, and since then, Springsteen always have had a guitar in his hands (almost true). Shortly after he saw Elvis, he joined a group called Castiles, and when he went on audition he ripped out a couple of songs from his guitar. When the other guys in the band asked him where he had learned to play like he answered: "I heard them on the radio today, do you want me to play some more songs?" The Castiles had sort of a success on the East- Coast, but didn't succeed in same way throuout the United States. After Castilies, Springsteen changed bands like other people changes their socks. But when he, in 1972, got a record contract with CBS Records, he put together a giga band, called THE E Street Band. Probably the best live band in the world ever. (My oppinion!?) And they are still going as strong as ever!

But what have made Bruce Springsteen the super-star he is? Well, I think the answer lies in his behaviour on and off stage. He haven't become a wise ass snob as so many other stars have become. Just look at jerks (My opinion, again) as Micheal "Wacko-Jacko" Jackson, Prince and so on....... No, he is still the ordinary guy out on the street, and as you all know(?) Springsteen gives everything on stage! And unlike most other performers he does his shows without any special effects, such as laser and stuff like that.. He simply do what he's supposed to do: He plays music all night long! And people come to see his shows every night, in every town he's in, in ANY country.

Now this was a very short story about Springsteen, I could have continued with lots of pages, but that would probably bore you to death. Because I know there isn't too many Amiga freaks out there who think much about Bruce Springsteen. (And I have no hard feelings about that, each person has the right to think what he wants.) But if there is any Springsteen fan out there who is reading this, please contact me for swapping bootlegs, rare records/songs and stuff like that.

Rumours: I've heard romours about Springsteen having fired all the members in The E Street Band, but I don't know if this is true. (I sure don't hope so!)

The story so far...:

1973, "Greetings from Asbury Park, N.J." - Not that successful.
1973, "The Wild, The Innocent & The E Street Shuffle." - Again, not that successful.
1975, "Born To Run." - Bruce's breakthrough worldwide. A classic for all rock & roll fans! Surely you all have heard about this one, eh?
1978, "Darkness On the Edge of Town." - A hit LP! (My personal favorite!)
1980, "The River" (2 LP set) - Again a hit, with the top hit single "Hungry Heart."
1982, "Nebraska" (Solo LP) - Only Bruce on synthesizers, guitars and harmonica/vocals. Classic!
1984, "Born in the U.S.A." - Do I have to say anything else? CBS best selling record EVER!
1986, "Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band/Live 1975-85" - A live collection, contending 5 LP's (3 CD's), all songs digitally recorded.
1987, "Tunnel of Love" - Another masterpiece.(My opinion!) Bruce's latest record.

Hope to see some new material from Springsteen soon!
